The police in Mukono is currently investigating a suspected case of suicide by hanging that occurred at Seeta High School, Mukono, on the 21st of February 2025.
Preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 3:00 AM, a student, identified as Ssesazi Elishammah, a 16-year-old male student in Senior Three (S.3) at Seeta High School, Mukono Main Campus, was found hanging in the dormitory.
It is alleged that the deceased had attended evening classes on the previous day until 10:00 PM and later retired to the dormitory along with his classmates. However, at around 3:00 AM, one of his roommates discovered him hanging next to his bed and immediately informed the school administration, which subsequently alerted the police.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
He said that the police responded promptly, and the body was removed from the scene and transported to City Mortuary Mulago for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
At this stage, he added that “the motive behind the suspected suicide remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to gather more details surrounding the incident.”
He urged students, parents, and the public to remain calm as the police conduct thorough investigations into this matter.
