RIP: Ssesazi Elishammah
The police in Mukono are currently investigating a suspected case of suicide by hanging that occurred at Seeta High School, Mukono, on the 21st of February 2025.
Preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 3:00 AM, a student, identified as Ssesazi Elishammah, a 16-year-old male student in Senior Three (S.3) at Seeta High School, Mukono Main Campus, was found hanging in the dormitory.
It is alleged that , the deceased had attended evening classes on the previous day until 10:00 PM and later retired to the dormitory along with his classmates. However, at around 3:00 AM, one of his roommates discovered him hanging next to his bed and immediately informed the school administration, which subsequently alerted the police.
The police responded promptly, and the body was removed from the scene and transported to City Mortuary Mulago for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) said on Friday that the motive behind the suspected suicide remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to gather more details surrounding the incident.
However, close relatives say the deceased had just discovered he had cancer of the brain.
Soon after the incident emerged over the social media, social media users were quick to describe the deceased as a spoilt brat.
Relatives say “The boy was checked and found he had cancer for the brain was on treatment and when school time approached family decided to take him back to school but he had seen his results and lost hope.”
“Fellow students say he came back very quiet and unsocial like before and eventually this happened,” adds the relative.
