Senior Police officer who rushed expectant mother to hospital during Covid-19 lockdown gets new rank
By Executive Editor
At the start of the Covid-19 lockdown in April 2020, SP (then) Fred Ahimbisibwe, then the District Police Commander (DPC) – Mbale rushed an expectant mother to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. Rita Namboozo gave birth to a beautiful (intended) baby boy. She had raised a distressed call from miles away, prompting Ahimbisibwe to rush there and pick her up. The nationwide lockdown was intended to cut on the spread of the Covid-19. No one was allowed to move from one place to another unless with an express permission backed by a good reason.

The good news is that Ahimbisibwe has added another rank – Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) from the rank of Superintendent of Police (S). Ahimbisibwe was among the recently promoted senior officers and has just been pipped to the new rank. Ahimbisibwe is currently the Regional Police Commander (RPC) for North Bukedi policing region.
