Ssemakadde: Lawyers split, create new body
Denis Ejom
Lawyers have been left divided following the Saturday elections.
On Saturday, the learned fellows went to the polls to pick the president of the Uganda Law Society. Isaac Semakadde won by landslide.
However, Ssemakadde’s win has left society divided.
Supporters of the Isaac Atukunda have now abandoned the society and formed the Uganda Bar Association (UBA). UBA is being headed by Francis Harimwomugasho. By press time, UBA had at least 1, 000 subscribers.
Although UBA has come into existence, the Uganda Law Society (ULS) remains the only recognized body of lawyers.
