RIP: Gongodyo
Pirates Rugby Club has assembled a team of lawyers to closely follow investigations into the murder of their former player, Sydney Gongodyo, who was lynched by a mob in Ntinda, Kampala, last Friday.
Police have so far arrested 11 suspects, and the club’s legal team is keen to ensure none of them are released prematurely as inquiries continue.
According to sources, two lawyers have been retained on a permanent basis and began work on the case on the day Gongodyo was killed, while several others have been engaged temporarily to support the process.
Gongodyo was laid to rest in Sironko on Tuesday, and Pirates say they are committed to pursuing justice on his behalf.
