A senior police officer has lost his car to thieves, The Gazette reports.
The car belongs to the Administrator, Directorate of the Chief Political Commissar (CPC), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Christopher Kwerit.
High-end sources say the matter has been registered at Kabalagala Police Division Vide SD 42/21/11/21.
The car, sources say, is of registration number UAM 089S (Toyota Corona) and was stolen last night.
Sources add Kwerit is disturbed by the fact that his car is missing.
“Yes, the car is old but he has driven that car ever since it was new. He loved that car,” a source said.
An analysis of police reports on motor vehicle thefts and robberies in the country shows that on average 700 cars are stolen or robbed in Kampala every year. This translates to two vehicles being stolen or robbed every day in Kampala.
