Top officials of the OPM arrested in new Shs 4 billion scandal

The Inspectorate of Government has Wednesday arrested officials of the Office of the Prime Minister over Shs 4 billion.
It is reported that between February and June 2022, Geoffrey Sseremba and Deogratius Masigazi while performing their duties as Accounting Officer and Head of Department, Pacification and Development Program respectively in the OPM approved Shs 4 billion without proper work plan nor genuine activity to be carried out. The money was later shared among various officials of the OPM, causing financial loss to the government.
Against the above background, has this afternoon arrested 6 senior officials from the OPM over abuse of office. These include; Mr. Masigazi Deogratious, Mr. Abaho Joshua, Ms. Asasira Barbara, Mr. Tonny Ameny Emmy, Mr. Peter Amodoi, and Mr. Samuel Ofungi.
The officials will be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo today.
