Traffic to enhance Fiika Salama after 5 die in Nakasongola accident

Police’s Traffic & Road Safety Directorate say the Directorate is going to enhance Fiika Salama operations and spot checks along all highways in a bid to contain the growing number of accidents on the road.
Yesterday, a fatal accident involving vehicles reg no SSD 078U/SSD773A (a Benz) trailer and UBE 902T (Toyota hiace), all moving from Kampala towards Gulu, had 5 people die after the Hiace entered under the trailer from behind. Four others were seriously injured. This was at Kyampisi in Nakasongola along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
Still yesterday, four people died in accident at Najjembe along the Kampala-Jinja highway.
According to Faridah Nampiima, the Directorate Spokesperson, Fiika Salama will be enhanced to control such accidents.
“We want to urge all drivers and Road users to be vigilant on roads, avoid speeding, reckless driving and other accident contributing factors,” Nampiima said, adding, “we are to enhance our Fiika salama operations and spot checks along all highways.”
