The Territorial Police of Nakasongola are actively investigating a case of murder by stabbing that occurred last evening.
The incident happened at 10 p.m. in Nakasongola.
Regional Police Spokesman Sam Twineamaziima said that the incident at Kaunya village, Bumugolodde Parish, Kalongo sub-county in Nakasongola District, claimed the lives of three people.
They are: Mutimba Julius, 45, a medical practitioner; his wife, Nakayima Resty, 35; and their daughter, Immaculate, aged six months.
It’s alleged that Mutimba had two clinics operating in two trading centers, Bamugolede and Nalugobia, and had gone to pick up his wife from Nalugobia on his motorcycle, Reg. No. UFL 736K (Bajaj, red in color).
Unfortunately, he was attacked on the way by unknown assailants, who blocked the road by putting up logs and stabbing him on the left chest. He fell down with the motorcycle and died on the spot. The attackers went head-to-head and stabbed the wife to death, who had fallen about 5 meters away with her 6-month-old baby, and all died.
Twineamaziima says that when neighbors rushed to the scene, the assailants took off to an unknown place in the bush.
“The motive is not yet known, and no arrests have been made as of now,” Twineamaziima said in a statement Tuesday.
By press time, the bodies were at Nakasongola HCIV for postmortem examination.
