The Uganda Cancer Society (UCS) has confirmed the date for the National Cancer Symposium.

The organizers says, that the technical working group, that is charged with the planning, execution, growth and sustainability of the NCS initiative, has resolved to hold the symposium on November 23, 2023. This year’s Symposium will be focusing on the Uganda National Cancer Control Plan, whose development is in advanced stages.

Launched in February 2018, the symposium brings on board multiple players in the cancer space with the desire to make meaningful contributions in the health sector.

The National Cancer Symposium is originally a joint initiative crafted by Uganda Cancer Society (UCS) and Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) and designed to be an annual stakeholder engagenment event. It seeks to bring on board as many actors, partners and stakeholders as possible, to foster national discussion and dialogue on the subject of cancer. Its overall goal is; “To build concerted effort for a systematic response against the cancer epidemic in Uganda through an inclusive process that harnesses the benefits of a multi-sectorial approach for greater impact”.

This year’s event will be held at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanjja, is expected to preside over the event as Chief Guest.
