Uganda is expected to lose over 4 million jobs, should Parliament consider the proposed Alcohol Bill.
According to the Acohol Industry Association, the Bill in its current form impacts farmers, manufacturers, distributors, bars, retailers, bartenders, bouncers, cleaners, cooks, artists, etc.
This morning, Members of the Uganda Alcohol Industry Association, who include manufacturers and dealers, have expressed concern that the right to trade would be restricted and over a million Ugandans will lose their jobs, if the Alcohol-Drinks-Control-Bill 2023 is passed.
They were engaging with the State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite, and the Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, David Bahati, as they raise their concerns regarding the Bill that was recently tabled in Parliament by Tororo District Woman MP, Sarah Opendi.
