The UK government has made changes in its leadership in Uganda.

In the communication sent out on Wednesday, Ms. Lisa Chesney, MBE, has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Uganda.

She replaces Ms. Kate Airey, OBE, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

Although the UK does not reveal reasons for the changes, two months ago or thereabout, Kate briefed President Museveni that the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, had a house among other properties in the UK. However, she did not provide details.

Kate Airey was appointed as the British High Commissioner to Uganda at the end of 2019 and began work in November 2020.

The British High Commission in Uganda is responsible for relations between the two countries. However, Kate’s revelation nearly caused diplomatic problems between the UK and Uganda.

Ms. Chesney will take up her appointment in October 2024.
