A murder by assault case is being looked into by the territorial police in Bukedi (CRB 036/2023). The incident took place in Budaka district’s Bukoli hamlet, Nanzara parish, Kameruka sub-county.

The deceased has been identified as Martin Mbayo, a UPDF officer.

According to a few facts, an updf officer named Mbayo Martin (dead) and his companion Nolya went out to drink at a pub run by Tabiruka Robert of Nabugala Trading Center in Kameruka subcounty on July 18, 2023, about 1700 hours. They stayed at the bar until 2200 hours, at which point the dead got into a brawl with Tabiruka, the establishment’s proprietor. That person who died had significant head injuries. A case of assault was reported to the police on July 19, 2023, at 3:45 a.m.

The sufferer was taken urgently to the referral hospital in Mbale for better care. The victim’s condition deteriorated while at Mbale Referral Hospital, prompting a referral to Mulago Hospital. At Iganga, the victim passed away while traveling. The deceased’s body remains at Bugema Army Barracks in Mbale at the moment.

Tiberuka is now hiding out while being sought after.
