Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner General, John Musinguzi, has held talks with his Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) counterpart, Yusuph Juma Mwenda, aimed at strengthening collaboration in tax administration and boosting domestic revenue mobilisation.

According to Musinguzi, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in the areas of digital transformation and taxpayer service delivery as key drivers of voluntary compliance.

“Our discussions focused on digital transformation and taxpayer service as key drivers of voluntary compliance,” Musinguzi noted.

The two tax chiefs emphasized the importance of aligning systems and approaches in an increasingly integrated East African region, where coordinated tax administration is seen as critical to improving efficiency and reducing revenue leakages.

Musinguzi added that effective tax administration across borders requires consistency, alignment, and coordinated execution among revenue authorities.

The engagement underscores ongoing efforts by regional tax bodies to modernize operations and strengthen partnerships in order to enhance revenue collection and support economic growth.
