URA team arrests smuggler on wanted list, impounds vehicle

A serial smuggler has had his luck run out.

A few hours ago, one of the newly recruited informants provided real-time intelligence about suspicious and uncoordinated illicit activities, received a word about a well-organized ploy to convey cigarettes using a vehicle earlier placed on the wanted list.

True to the call, in the wee hours of the morning before the first crow, the Malaba team was signaled to and, in behest, reacted at once. This particular vehicle and driver had been on URA’s wanted list but has always escaped the trap.

The driver in particular has always confused URA’s many traps by dressing “so smartly” to avoid suspicion. But immediately he changed the dressing, and as ordinary days ended, he was nabbed.

After a simple chase around Tororo town, he was found hiding behind the Central Police Station in Tororo. The vehicle was intercepted, impounded, and delivered to Malaba Enforcement offices.

A physical verification was carried out and revealed the following: 1721 bombas, 10 packets and 20 sticks of super match.

By press time, the suspect and his cargo were on their way to Kampala for further offense management.
