A video has emerged showing supporters of the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) party sharing cash at a rally in Dokolo following the just concluded Dokolo Woman MP (Member of Parliament) by-election.
The UPC candidate won the election by literally a landslide.
However, during and after the declaration of the results, there were concerns of voter bribery on the part of the UPC.
In fact, on polling day, Oyam Woman MP Santa Alum Ogwang was arrested and detained for bribing voters. She was later released.
Additionally, the UPC also ferried people from Dokolo residing in other areas of the country to return home and vote in their favor. These included students, among others. However, they were treated to a lavish “voter allowance.”
Now, a video in our possession shows how voters shared money at one of the rallies. UPC President Jimmy Akena addressed the same rally at Aweiwot Church grounds.
