Viper SC Vs KCCA FC! History on Venoms side, Yunus Ssentamu a doubt for the crunch tie

By Marvin Ocol

Vipers SC host UPL table toppers this afternoon at the St Mary’s Stadium.

The host trail the Kasasiro boys with 6 points.

The Venoms come into this game with history on their side.

KCCA FC and Vipers SC will be meeting for the 33rd time in the league history and the Venoms have an upper hand out of the previous 32 meetings having 13 wins, 8 draws and 11 losses with the visitors slightly ahead in terms of goals with a total of 39 goals against 38 making it a -1 goal difference for the Venoms.

Head-To-Head

Meetings: 32

Vipers wins: 13

Draws: 8

Losses: 11

Goals for: 38

Against: 39

Points: 47

Secondly, ever since Vipers SC started using St Mary’s stadium at Kitende as the official home ground in March 2017, KCCA FC is yet to taste victory out of the 4 league fixtures hosted at the venue since then, Vipers counts 2 win, 2 draws and without a loss with a total of 5 goals against 3 however overall, the Venoms will be hosting KCCA FC for the 17th time.

Last 6 meetings at Vipers home:

2015/16:- Vipers 2-2 KCCA

2016/17:- Vipers 2-1 KCCA

2018/19:- Vipers 1-1 KCCA

2019/20:- Vipers 0-0 KCCA

2020/21:- Vipers 1-0 KCCA

However overall, out of the 16 meetings between the two teams hosted by Vipers, the Venoms have registered 7 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses scoring 22 goals as well as conceding 22 in the process.
Vipers SC first ever victory over the Kasasiro lads was registered on September 28, 2008 in a 3-1 win at Nakivubo stadium after 6 fruitless attempts from our debut season in the top flight division, it was courtesy of a brace by Yudah Mugalu and one from Samson Ceasar Okhuti while Brian Umony scored KCCA’s consolation strike.

Vipers last lost a home game to KCCA FC during the 2010/11 first round encounter at Nakivubo stadium when Saaka Mpima, Israel Emuge and Cesar Sapeo netted in a 3-1 while our consolation was from Saddam Juma but since then, the Kasasiro lads have never tested victory at our home in 10 attempts.

Vipers are currently occupying second position on the league log with 30 points out of the 14 matches played while KCCA are languishing in 4th position 3 points behind the Venoms having garnered 27 points from the same number of games.

Tony Odur is the leading scorer in this fixture with 5 goals having scored 3 for KCCA against Vipers and 2 for the Venoms against the Kasasiro lads closely followed by Mike Mutyaba with 3, 2 for Vipers and 1 for the Lugogo based side.

Team News

Richard Basangwa, Lawrence Tezikya and Umaru Kyebatala remain long time absentees ruling them out this first round after undergoing surgery and it’s the second round earmarked for their returns.

The rest of the squad is available for selection save for Yunus Sentamu who returned to training last week from a knee knock hence this tie is still too early for him.
