We, the men, should be allies in this fight against GBV – Crispin Kaheru

Human Rights Day—10 Dec, 2022
As we commemorate this year’s International Human Rights Day, we note the progress made thus far. We however remain concerned about any threats preventing citizens, men, women, and children from fully living a life in dignity and freedom from violence. In line with the theme of this year’s Human Rights Day, we condemn all forms of human rights violations including child marriages, wife beating, defilement and rape. These practices are mainly driven by backward cultures, poverty, and ignorance in communities. This is the time for the Government to re-commit to partnering with the community to weed out all forms of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Uganda. This is also the moment for men to rise to the occasion and protect women and girls against any form of harmful practices that violate their rights. We, the men, should be allies in this fight against GBV.
