Between October 9, 2024, and October 10, 2024, the Milton Obote Family was in Akokoro. Akokoro is where Milton Obote’s body rests. Jimmy Akena, the UPC Party President, was the face of the gathering. From refurbishments, meetings, and food, the moments were captured on camera. Akena shared the video on social media recently.
However, noticeably, his wife Betty Amongi was not anywhere in the video. This prompted a comment under the video.

The comment resurrected rumors that Amongi and Akena separated years ago. 5 or so years ago, the Red Pepper wrote that the two political giants in Lango had separated and lived separately but maintained a political/public marriage for political reasons, some of which Amongi may stand on to contest in Lira City.
Neither Akena nor Amongi commented on the matter at the time.
Even after the social media comment, Akena did not respond.
Akena and Amongi got married in 2013. President Yoweri Museveni was the chief guest.
Previously, Amongi was married to Dr. James Ochwa.
To date, Dr. Ochwa’s family demands a refund of dowry and other gifts given to Amongi’s family in 2003. Amongi and Dr. Ochwa separated in 2005.
