On Thursday, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) announced Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) as the largest taxpayer for the Financial Year 2022/2023.

According to the citation, CCBU contributed taxes worth Shs 300 billion over the last three years, posting a 90 % revenue growth. Of these, Shs 1.1 billion came in as Pay As You Earn (PAYE) contribution in the last Financial Year. CCBU employs 956 people directly.

In second place was BetPawa while the Bank of Baroda was announced as the third largest taxpayer in 2022/23 FY.

While presiding over the taxpayer appreciation gala as Chief Guest, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja appealed to Ugandans to drink more Coca-Cola products for the company’s exceptional contribution to revenue and tax returns compliance.
