Earlier today, the Uganda Bus Operators Association (UBOA) defended the move to increase bus fares sighting: Increased fuel prices, the 50% loading capacity, increased security vigilance costs to counter terrorism and poor passenger turn up.

Works and Transport Minister, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, during the meeting appealed to bus operators to be considerate in adjusting transport fares under the prevailing circumstances.

This is following an outcry by the public over the proposed increase in bus fares.

However, by the end of the meeting, the fares were agreed as below:
