The top leadership of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) are in a victory mood following Thursday polls in Kayunga.

The District LCV seat fell vacant in June when Ffeffekka sserubogo died under unclear circumstances.

Thursday by-election saw National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Andrew Muwonge and National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Harriet Nakweede emerged as contenders.

However, NUP Secretary General Davis Lewis Rubongoya is sure of the NUP win.

“We are in a clear and comfortable lead. If not for the rigging, we were winning this by 90%,” Rubongoya Thursday evening.

His party President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine also had this to tweet.

By press time, the Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) was yet to announce results.
