Dokolo By-Election: Lango rejects another orphan
By Davis Mugabi
For the second time in less than a year, Lango has rejected the politics of father/mother to son/daughter.
Following the assassination of Col. Charles Okello Engola (MP, Oyam North), his son was fronted in the by-election in a bid to replace the deceased in the 11th Parliament.
Engola Jr. was defeated by a UPC candidate, Eunice Apio.
In the newest by-election held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in Dokolo (Woman), a UPC candidate has yet again defeated NRM’s Janet Adongo. UPC’s Sarah Aguti garnered 23, 044 votes compared to Adongo’s 14, 000 votes.
FDC’s Rosemary Alwoch came in third with 8, 000 votes. Alwoch is the daughter of deceased MP Cecilia Ogwal.
