AIGP Stephen Tanui
RETIREMENT PACKAGE: AIGP Stephen Tanui, the Police’s Director of Fire and Rescue Services, may well be planning beyond his service days. After decades of dedicated service to the nation, he appears to be entering the final phase of his career with an eye on life after uniform.

Now, in what looks like preparation for retirement, Tanui has unveiled a mega hostel at Kamuli C in Kireka, Kira, Wakiso District. The hostel is a walkable distance from Kyambogo University and can also accommodate bachelors. The building has five floors, with room for further expansion, and each floor has at least 10 units. Some sections at the front are designed for shops. It currently houses a bar, a shop and a pharmacy. In the same area, a unit costs no less than Shs 150,000 per month, while some students prefer to pay up to Shs 1,200,000 per semester. Experts say that if all the rooms are occupied, Tanui could fetch at least Shs 10 million per month.
