Kayunga by-election: NRM party officials camp in the district
By Ahmed Kintu
The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party officials have Tuesday afternoon arrived in Kayunga district.
Party officials say the visit is a kick-off of the Central Region tour.
The officials are led by the Director in Charge of Mobilization, Rose Seninde.
“The tour that kicked off this morning will see the party officials camp in Kayunga district for four days to among others hold meetings with a number of leaders in a bid to find out the progress of government programs,” tweeted NRM Tuesday afternoon.
The visit, however, coincides with an ongoing preparation for the December 16, 2021 by-election to fill the vacant LCV seat.
Kayunga district chairperson seat fell vacant after the mysterious death of Muhammad Ffeffekka Sserubogo (NUP) in June, who was barely a month into office.
Also, the visit comes at a time when NRM supporters and officials are divided. Recently, NRM party secretary for publicity resigned his position citing disrespect from fellow party officials in the district.
With this visit, however, some of these issues are expected to be ironed out.
