Maj Gen Francis Takirwa
Kampala — Major General Francis Takirwa, the Deputy Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Forces, has died.
Well-placed sources say Maj Gen Takirwa passed away after suffering a stroke-related illness. By press time, the UPDF had not yet issued an official statement confirming the death.
Maj Gen Takirwa was a senior officer in the UPDF and, at the time of his death, served as the Deputy Commander of the Land Forces, one of the army’s most critical command structures. His role placed him at the center of operational planning, force readiness, and coordination within the Land Forces.
Details surrounding the circumstances of his death, funeral arrangements, and official tributes from the army leadership are expected once the UPDF releases a formal communication.
