March to Parliament: Gideon Kwikiriza, son of ex-Police Chief, Kasingye, arrested

By Davis Mugabi

The son of ex-Police Chief, AIGP (Rtd), Asan Kasingye, is under arrest.

Gideon Nova Kwikiriza was among the March to Parliament protesters. Kwikiriza is also the President of Ugandans on X (UOX). The peaceful protesters took to the streets in support of the fight against corruption. Over 65 protesters were arrested, charged with unlawful assembly, and remanded.

Kasingye confirmed the arrest of his son in a post on X on Thursday.

“Friends on X. Our President, @KwikirizaNova, is on remand via #March2Paliament. Can any lawyer here, under pro bono, apply for a production warrant for a bail application? If this fails, we can hire a lawyer,” said Kasingye.

A number of lawyers and those associated with the law society are currently offering free legal services to those in custody.
