President Yoweri Museveni disbanded the Presidential Task Force On Land Matters and Environment, the Kampala Gazette has learnt.

The Task Force has been under the leadership of Brig. Gen. RTD. Moses Shaban Lukyamuzi.

Gen. Lukyamuzi confirmed the disbandment to CBS Radio Friday.

While he cited a number of reasons, none of them stood out to our sources.

Instead, well-placed sources say Gen. Lukyamuzi used his office to enter a curtail of land grabbers in Kampala Metropolitan Area.

For instance, Lukyamuzi, using his office wanted to overthrow Police and Court on the contested pice of land comprised on block 185 and plot 385 located in Kito Namugongo, Kiira Municipality in Wakiso district. The land is Yusuf Ssemakula and Alice Nabitosi.

Because the land has been under contest, the Police had deployed on it pending an amicable resolution.

However, Lukyamuzi is said to have joined a cartel of grabbers including a one Winnie Tugume and wanted to take over the mandate from Police, even when the disbanded committee had no powers and authority.

Lukyamuzi never succeeded in his move.

The other prominent land matter in Entebbe Municipality.

In November last year, he was dragged to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence together with his body guard over misconduct by the administrators of the estate of late Nekemia Masabo Lwanga Ssempama of Nkuma Bufulu zone in Entebbe municipality.

The duo was accused of malicious damage of property, assault and disobeying court order.

He had allegedly approached the petitioners asking them for land in exchange for protection from imposters and land grabbers, who targeted their land.

After they declined to lend him their ears, the retired army chief together with his bodyguard and other 20 hooligans allegedly stormed the said land and removed all the mark stones and fences on the land measuring 3.5 acres.
