NRM Youth Forum Chairman, Geofrey Mugisha
The Chairman of the NRM National Youth Forum, Geofrey Mugisha, has commended Roofings Group for supporting the revitalisation of Kasubi Family Primary School, which has faced prolonged land disputes and deteriorating learning conditions.
For several years, the school was involved in land wrangles with neighbouring individuals who allegedly sought to take over part of the institution’s land. The dispute escalated when sections of the perimeter wall were reportedly demolished, exposing learners to safety risks and worsening the school’s already difficult conditions.
In May this year, Roofings Group began renovation and construction works at the school under its corporate social responsibility programme. The project, whose total cost is estimated at Shs 3.5 billion, is intended to improve the school’s infrastructure and provide learners with a safer and more conducive environment.

During a recent tour of the ongoing works, Roofings Group Brand Manager Edwin Abaasa said Phase One of the project was 80% complete. The first phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year, allowing learners to move from the temporary structures they currently occupy and return to permanent classrooms.
Commenting on the project, Mugisha thanked Roofings Group for its intervention and called for more companies to support public institutions in communities where government resources are limited.
“Thank you (Roofings). This country needs more companies like you,” Mugisha said.
Mugisha, who is also a youth leader in Rubaga Division, said the school plays a vital role in providing access to education for children from families that cannot afford private schooling.
“Most parents in this area cannot afford private schools. This is the only government schools in the area. Without it, many children will not go to school. Therefore, your support is in the right direction,” added Mugisha.
He said the company’s support would not only address the school’s infrastructure challenges but also help protect the right to education for children in the surrounding communities.
Once completed, the project is expected to provide improved classrooms and better facilities for learners and teachers, while also restoring confidence among parents whose children attend the school.
