Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the death of professional rugby player Sydney Gongodyo, who was killed in an alleged mob incident on 5 June 2026. The latest suspect, identified as 21-year-old boda boda rider Kabugo Henry, a resident of Old Kira–Kisenyi, was tracked down after being captured on video footage from the scene, where he was seen wearing a blue reflector jacket and hiding his face with a black hood.
Kabugo was arrested in the Wandegeya area of Kampala during a joint operation involving Police and boda boda leaders from Nakawa Division, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to eleven as investigations continue. Police have praised the boda boda community for its cooperation in identifying and apprehending those believed to be involved in the killing. Security agencies say efforts are ongoing to trace additional suspects, and the Uganda Police Force has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all responsible are arrested and prosecuted, with further updates to be issued as the case progresses, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala.
