Nakaseke, Uganda – The Territorial Police in Nakaseke District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a two-month-old infant who reportedly died under unclear circumstances last week.
According to police, the baby, identified as Musoke Latifu, passed away on September 10, 2025. His parents, Nalongo Hadijah Kataike (29) and Mukose Abubakari (40), both residents of Kyondo Village, Kapeeka Parish, allegedly buried the child in secrecy without informing authorities or the community.
Police spokesperson for the Savannah Region, ASP Sam Twiineamazima, confirmed the case in a statement released Wednesday. He said that investigations began on September 16 after community members alerted police about the suspicious circumstances surrounding the infant’s death and burial.
“The baby had reportedly refused to breastfeed before his death. What remains unclear is why the parents kept the death and burial secret,” Twiineamazima said.
The deceased was the couple’s eleventh child. Following their arrest, both parents are currently being questioned to establish the circumstances leading to the death and to assist police in locating the infant’s burial site.
The case has been registered as a suspected murder, and police say inquiries are ongoing.
“Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” ASP Twiineamazima added.
