RIP: Richard Bwabye
Luwero District has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Richard Bwabye, a government official widely praised for his dedication to public service and community welfare.
News of Bwabye’s passing has triggered grief across the Greater Luwero region, where he was known as a committed administrator who worked closely with both government structures and ordinary citizens.
Luwero Minister Alice Kaboyo led tributes, describing his death as a great loss to the district and the nation.
“It is with deep sorrow that I have learnt of the passing of our RDC for Luwero District, Mr. Richard Bwabye, a great loss to the people of Greater Luwero and the country,” Kaboyo said in an official statement.
She noted that Bwabye was a vibrant, hardworking, and understanding leader who served the Government and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) with dedication and commitment to the ordinary person.
During his tenure, Bwabye was instrumental in strengthening security, promoting peace, resolving land wrangles, and safeguarding cattle—key issues affecting communities in the region.
Kaboyo said these efforts would remain Bwabye’s enduring legacy.
“His contribution to security, peace, and land conflict resolution will be remembered. He served with commitment and passion for the wellbeing of our people,” she said.
The Minister extended condolences to his family, the people of Luwero District, and all colleagues who worked alongside him.
Government is expected to announce the funeral arrangements in due course.
Bwabye’s death marks the end of a career defined by active engagement, problem-solving, and unwavering service to the people of Luwero.
