One of the winners receiving a Spiro electric motorcycle.
Spiro Uganda gave the 2026 Rwenzori Marathon a green mobility twist on Saturday in Kasese, where the company showcased electric motorcycles at one of Uganda’s biggest sporting events.
As runners, residents and business owners gathered before dawn, Spiro used its role as the event’s official Green Mobility Partner to promote electric transport and support the media and medical teams along the route.
At the finish line, Chemonges Leonard and Jepchumba Margare won the men’s and women’s 42-kilometre races, each receiving Shs 40 million and a Spiro motorcycle.
The marathon also reignited debate about electric mobility in Uganda, with questions still lingering over range, charging, battery life and affordability. But for many spectators, the event offered a first-hand look at how the technology could fit into everyday transport.
