Former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has spoken out for the first time in a very long time.
The former NRM Secretary General went silent shortly after contesting against his friend and senior party leader, Yoweri Museveni, in the 2016 Presidential polls.
Having lost that election, Mbabazi chose to largely live away from active politics.
In a tweet Sunday, Mbabazi said: “The last 3 years have not been the easiest in our country’s life.”
“Covid-19, Ebola, imported global economic challenges, etc. I congratulate the people of Uganda for bearing up together.”
Together, he adds that “so far, we have managed to get through the difficulties and we can therefore start moving forward, to build a strong and modern country with a stable smart economy. “
I wish you all a very happy and healthy and prosperous New Year 2023, he said.
