Kampala, Uganda — Kakaire Jonah Moses, a 28-year-old former chef at Pastor Samuel Kakande’s Temple Mount Church in Kubiri, has died in circumstances that remain unclear, with sources alleging that the case may involve suspected human sacrifice.
Kakaire was secretly buried in Mayuge on October 4, 2026, according to sources familiar with the matter. Other sources said he was struck by a faulty lift at the church, although the circumstances leading to the incident and the events that followed remain unknown.
The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the circumstances of Kakaire’s death and the decision to conduct the burial before an official explanation was issued. Police had not released a formal statement by the time of publication.
Sources said investigations had not yet clarified whether Kakaire’s death was accidental or linked to criminal activity. The allegations of human sacrifice remain unverified, and no individual or institution has been formally implicated.
Efforts to obtain an official response from police and representatives of Temple Mount Church were unsuccessful by press time.
