Kampala, Uganda — Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda continued its celebration of football, youth and entertainment by sponsoring the Buganda Royal Mr & Mrs event as part of its ongoing English Premier League campaign, “Essawa Yonna Kisoboka.”
The event provided a platform for young people to come together, celebrate talent and enjoy a range of experiences curated by Coca-Cola around the excitement of the Premier League.
With football increasingly serving as a powerful cultural connector among young people, Coca-Cola is using the EPL campaign to create experiences that extend beyond watching matches and bring fans together through entertainment, creativity and shared moments.
The Buganda Royal Mr & Mrs event formed part of this approach, giving attendees an opportunity to enjoy the occasion while interacting with the Coca-Cola brand through curated experiences.
The atmosphere was further elevated by the energy of young people and entertainment, with artist Kapeeke exciting the crowd and adding to the celebratory mood.
The activation is part of Coca-Cola’s wider “Essawa Yonna Kisoboka” campaign, which is built around the unpredictable excitement of football — the idea that anything can happen before the final whistle.
The campaign has included watch parties, university activations, consumer experiences and a content creation competition targeting young Ugandans.
Through the content competition, young people are encouraged to use their creativity to tell stories around football, Coca-Cola and their everyday fan experiences. Participants have an opportunity to compete for monthly cash prizes of up to UGX 1 million.
For young creators, the initiative offers more than an opportunity to win.
Jade Billz, a director at Makerere University, described the competition as an opportunity for young people to turn creativity and passion into something meaningful.
“It inspires us to believe in our talents, tell our stories, and create content that can reach and inspire others,” he said.
Other young creators have highlighted the opportunity to develop practical skills in storytelling, editing, teamwork and digital content creation while connecting with fellow football fans.
Coca-Cola plans to continue taking the EPL experience to different universities and youth-focused platforms, creating spaces where young people can experience the campaign, participate in activities and express their creativity.
The strategy reflects a broader shift in how young audiences engage with football. For today’s fans, the game is not limited to the 90 minutes on the pitch; it is also about the music, conversations, celebrations, content and communities that develop around it.
Through “Essawa Yonna Kisoboka,” Coca-Cola is creating opportunities for Ugandan youth to be part of that experience — both as fans and as creators.
And with the Premier League season still unfolding, there is plenty more to come before the final whistle.
