Dott Services poured stones on the car below. The area has finally been cleared, and car moved behind.
Dott Services has cleared stones it dumped on vehicles at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala, following pressure from the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
On Saturday, we reported that the contractor, which is undertaking major road works in Kampala, had piled stones intended for construction on vehicles parked in the CPS yard. The materials were reportedly meant for works along Square One and George Street, where Dott Services is implementing road improvement projects.
A visit by our reporter to the site on Tuesday confirmed that the area had been cleared. The vehicle that had been partly covered by the stones had also been removed from the pile and relocated to another section of the yard.
KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Buzeki last week questioned the contractor over the decision to dump the construction materials on vehicles at the police station. She ordered Dott Services to immediately clear the area and ensure that the site was properly managed.
Hajjat Buzeki also raised concerns about dirt and poor cleanliness around the ongoing construction sites. She said contractors are responsible for keeping work areas clean and orderly throughout the construction period.
She said this responsibility remains with the contractor until the works are completed and the roads are formally handed over to KCCA.
