The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has pledged strong support for the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU)’s 50th anniversary celebrations, including the Association’s Golden Jubilee Summit scheduled for 20–23 October 2026 at the Source of the Nile Hotel in Jinja City. URA Assistant Commissioner for Public and Corporate Affairs Robert Kalumba said the authority was proud to support the milestone celebrations. “We are coming to Jinja. It is worth a celebration. Going forward, our partnership will continue,” Kalumba said. The summit will culminate in the 10th PRAU Excellence Awards on 23 October. PRAU launched its 50th anniversary roadmap on Thursday under the theme, “Celebrating 50 Years of Professional Excellence; Shaping the Future of Public Relations.” Founded on 22 May 1976, the association brings together public and private-sector public relations practitioners, communication specialists, brand managers and professionals in related fields. The four-day programme will feature professional development sessions, knowledge-sharing forums, networking opportunities and reflections on PRAU’s contribution to Uganda’s development. It will also honour past leaders and pioneers who have helped advance public relations in Uganda. PRAU President Irene Nakasiita said the anniversary was both a celebration of the association’s journey and a call to strengthen the profession. “Reaching 50 years is not just a celebration of our longevity as an association, it is recognition of the increasing value of strategic communication in building institutional credibility, strengthening stakeholder trust and supporting national development,” she said. The programme will conclude with the 10th PRAU Excellence Awards, held under the theme, “A Legacy in Gold: Honouring the Cream of Public Relations.” The awards will recognise outstanding individuals, campaigns and organisations that have contributed to the growth of public relations and strategic communication in Uganda.
