Victoria University has offered five scholarships to five best savers of Police Exodus SACCO Limited in 2023.

VC Dr. Lawrence Muganga announced the sponsorships during the 11th AGM of the SACCO, which is happening now at the police headquarters in Naguru.

Dr. Muganga was addressing the SACCO members on the importance of saving.

Earlier, the SACCO had recognized the best savers.

Using the story of a bamboo tree, which he said takes over 5 years of constant care for its seed to germinate, Dr. Muganga appealed to members of Exodus SACCO to spend 50% of their earnings on their needs, save 30%, and spend the rest of 20%.

He gave the example of Djibouti, which he said is the best-saving African nation, saving 87% of its earnings.

He also appealed to his audience to consider returning for further studies and acquiring new sets of skills to be able to earn more and save more.

It was at this point that Dr. Muganga announced five scholarships for the best savers at Exodus SACCO to join VU for further studies on courses of their choice.

The SACCO AGM is running under the theme: Save today, shape tomorrow.
