Days after Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), returned to Kigali, Rwanda, and held talks with President Kagame, Uganda Airlines announced a route to the neighboring country.
Uganda Airlines will commence flights to Kigali on November 18, 2026. There will be daily flights, CEO Girma Wake announced this Wednesday.
But sources say that behind the scenes, Gen. Kainerugaba worked to ensure that this milestone was achieved.
“Announcing the Kigali route is not a coincidence,” said a high-end source. “There has been a lot of underground work, all efforts of Gen. Muhoozi.”
Years ago, Rwanda and Uganda had a strained relationship. At one point, the border between the two nations was closed. It took months for it to be reopened. Since then, Muhoozi has frequented Kigali to help cement and rebuild the relationship.
With the new route to Kigali, analysts say the relationship between the two countries and their people will grow even stronger.
