ARRESTED: Kayaga
Police in Nateete are holding a male suspect over the alleged theft of UGX 1.7 million from his employers in Mutundwe, Rubaga Division, Kampala.
The suspect, identified as Kayaga Rayan, is alleged to have posed as Namirembe Rukia, disguising himself as a female domestic worker to secure employment and later steal from households. According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, “The suspect admitted during interrogation that he disguised himself as a female domestic worker with the intention of stealing from employers. This is a serious breach of trust, and we are treating the matter with the utmost gravity.”
Kayaga was arrested at a church in Mutundwe during a routine security check, after which his employers discovered that UGX 1.7 million was missing and reported the matter to police. He remains in custody and will be produced in court upon completion of investigations.
Police have urged the public to exercise due diligence by verifying the identity and background of domestic workers and promptly reporting any suspicious behavior.
