ARRESTED: Matthew Bagonza
President Yoweri Museveni has said he had no knowledge of the arrest of Matthew Bagonza, a senior manager at PACEID. PACEID is the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development. Bagonza was arrested on Monday.
The head of PACEID, Odrek Rwabogo, told the media in Kampala this afternoon that he learned of Bagonza’s arrest at 10:30 a.m., after which he drove to Entebbe to see the President. Rwabogo said the President told him he was not aware of the arrest and that he had not ordered it.
Rwabogo also said he has been informed that Bagonza will be brought to court soon. He said lawyers are on standby to handle the matter. He appealed to Bagonza’s friends, relatives and family to pray for him.
