The Uganda Police Force has intensified intelligence-led operations targeting criminal syndicates operating within and beyond the country, leading to key breakthroughs in cases of murder, robbery, and organized crime.
According to the 2025 Annual Crime Report, these operations, conducted in close collaboration with agencies such as the ODPP, FIA, ISO, UPDF, the Judiciary, and international partners, have helped track cross-border criminal networks, recover illicit proceeds, and strengthen efforts to safeguard national security.
One of the most disturbing cases highlighted in the report involves suspect Kadala Rashid, alias “Gashodo Nicholas,” who confessed to a series of brutal crimes in Buikwe District.
On 31 May 2025, police in Njeru Town arrested his girlfriend, Nabirye Annet, with a phone (0743257989) that had been used to issue ransom demands. Following her arrest, Gashodo admitted that on 23 May 2025, he murdered his first victim after robbing her of Shs 10,000 and burying her body in his garden. He then fled with her phone (0740419974) and extorted Shs 50,000 from the victim’s family.
Gashodo further confessed to killing his girlfriend, Mutesi Jesca, in Saza-Kafunda, Nyenga, Buikwe, together with a co-worker identified as David. The murder was allegedly carried out on the orders of their employer, Mutesi Annet, a former Jinja schools inspector, who is accused of orchestrating the killing as a ritual sacrifice.
She reportedly promised to pay Shs 3,000,000 for the act but had only paid Shs 500,000 at the time. Police later exhumed both bodies, and all the suspects were taken into custody as investigations into the wider criminal network continue.
