The Uganda Police Force has intensified intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal syndicates operating within and beyond the country, targeting organized crime such as robberies, murder, financial and cyber offences, human trafficking, and other transnational crimes.

According to the 2025 Police Crime Report, these efforts—conducted in collaboration with the ODPP, FIA, ISO, UPDF, the Judiciary, and international partners—have aided in tracking cross-border criminal networks, recovering illicit proceeds, and bolstering national security.

One high-profile case detailed in the report involves the killing of British-Zimbabwean national Munyaradizi Jama in a fake gold and cryptocurrency scheme.

Towards the end of 2025, Abdallah introduced Jama to Kasule Tonny to explore a gold business opportunity. After several meetings, Kasule linked Jama to Bonane Ronald, Kasadha Allan, and others for a bogus USD 19,000 gold deal at Zara Garden Hotel. Days later, Kasule learned that Jama held USD 4.25 million in cryptocurrency and assembled a wider criminal network, including Muhindo Silvester, Bwambale Nason, Ibrahim Sabiti, Mugabe Muhammed, and a hacker known as Bashir alias “Tycoon.” Their planning meetings took place at Land Star Hotel, Nican Resort, Olina Hotel, and Kabira Country Club.

Bashir then recruited Nabaasa Dan, UPDF’s Karamuzi Jotham, Tasingika Paul, and Segawa Isaac. On 1 December 2025, this group abducted Jama from Hilton Garden Inn in Kamwokya using vehicle UAU 928Q and drove him to Masaka. A planned transfer of his cryptocurrency failed because Jama was not the sole signatory, so the suspects stole USD 600 from him and shared it among themselves. The group later killed Jama and dumped his body in Lake Victoria, where it was recovered on 2 December 2025 at Malembo Landing Site.

Following investigations, police arrested Kasule, Mugabe, Nabaasa, and Tasingika, who confessed to kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and murder.

They were subsequently charged before the court martial.
