Housing Finance Bank has spoken out on a reported fraud at the institution.
Local media reported on October 2, 2024, that a client lost Shs 5 billion from a Housing Finance Bank account.
In a statement, the bank said, “Housing Finance Bank wishes to inform its valued customers of a recent attempted cyber breach that was curbed in time.”
The bank did not confirm or deny loss of the said amount of money.
“We would like to give our customers comfort that their deposits are safe, and we remain dedicated to maintaining the highest security standards,” reads part of the statement.
The bank, however, encouraged its clients to “remain vigilant, protect their personal details/PINs, and report any suspicious activity immediately.”
“Housing Finance Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to providing its customers with affordable and sustainable financial solutions,” said the bank.
