Property expert Edwin Musiime has said there are only two cement brands in East Africa: Yaobai and the rest.
Musiime made the remarks at the recently concluded Homes and Gardeners’ Expo 2026, held at the Sheraton Gardens, while commenting on the quality of cement produced by Yaobai.
“There are only two cement brands in East Africa. It’s Yaobai and the rest,” he said.
Musiime is the founder of Eco Housing Solution. His remarks were made in reference to what he described as the quality and performance of Yaobai cement, which has established a growing presence in Uganda’s construction sector.
Speaking at the event, Marvin, the Marketing and Performance Manager at Yaobai, urged customers and construction stakeholders to consider the brand for their building projects.
“If you want your work done, consider Yaobai cement,” Marvin said.
Yaobai has operated in Uganda for three years following investments of more than US$300 million. The company has manufacturing plants in Buikwe and Karamoja and currently employs more than 1,200 people.
Marvin said Yaobai uses efficient technologies designed to limit dust emissions and reduce the environmental impact of its operations. He said the company was committed to improving production efficiency while supporting the development of Uganda’s construction industry.
According to Marvin, Yaobai also plans to partner with companies and distributors involved in exporting cement and other construction materials to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.
The planned partnerships are expected to expand Yaobai’s regional presence and strengthen its distribution network in neighbouring markets, where demand for construction materials continues to grow.
