The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abas Byakagaba, has summoned all regional police commanders and district/division police commanders for a retreat.
The two-day event is happening at Police Headquarters in Naguru.
While officiating at the opening of the retreat, the IGP “urged the officers to appreciate that security remains a very critical basic element of culture and religion.”
The retreat is very timely, he added, and “therefore, I call upon officers to share experiences and strategies in making our country more secure, especially now that the 2026 general election activities are underway.”
According to the IGP, RPCs’ and DPCs’ roles as territorial commanders are “exceedingly pivotal and demand the officers remain focused and deliver peaceful 2026 general elections and maintain peace for the socio-economic transformation of our people.”
“I also urged officers to implement and sustain the sub-county policing model by showing leadership in mobilizing resources and public support,” said IGP Byakagaba.
