State Minister for Local Government, Justine Nameere, is under fire over alleged defamation against Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda Managing Director, Susan Nsibirwa.

The row began when Nameere posted on X listing the schools she attended and her rise to ministerial office, prompting Nsibirwa to quote the post and ask: “How do you explain the MP election debacle? The law was broken to declare you winner.”

In a fiery response, Nameere claimed she had stood surety for Nsibirwa in 2015 after colleagues at Vision Group allegedly declined to help her due to “alcohol and njaga problems.”

Lawyers are now demanding proof, with lawyer Benon Gowa asking for a police reference number to back up the claims.

Nsibirwa herself dismissed the allegations as “lies, lies and more lies” and warned that the remarks could land Nameere in court for defamation.
