The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has expressed dissatisfaction with the pace at which Dott Services is executing major road works across the city, with the overall progress currently standing at 48 per cent.
Dott Services is undertaking works on several roads and projects, including Square One, George Street and Mackinnon Road in Kampala Central Division, Nsambya Road in Makindye Division and St Barnabas in Rubaga Division, among others.
However, during an inspection of the projects on Saturday, KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki questioned the slow pace of implementation and engaged the contractor over the delays. She also observed blocked drainage channels and accumulated garbage along some of the project sites.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Buzeki said the overall progress of the works stood at 48 per cent, raising concerns about whether the contractor would complete the projects within the agreed timeframe.
She said the contractor was required to maintain clean project sites and ensure that drainage channels remained open throughout the construction period. According to Buzeki, these obligations will remain in force until the works are completed and the sites are formally handed back to KCCA.
Buzeki said KCCA and Dott Services had agreed that the ongoing works would be completed in December. She added that the authority would continue monitoring the projects to ensure that the contractor meets the agreed deadline and addresses the challenges identified during the inspection.
