Dott Services poured stones on the car below. The car is at the CPS yard
The Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, has questioned how Dott Services, the contractor undertaking major road works in Kampala, dumped construction stones on vehicles parked within the Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala yard.
Dott Services is currently executing several road projects across the city, including works on Square One, a road that slopes from the High Court through Mapeera to CPS. However, during an inspection of the project, Buzeki discovered that stones intended for the road works had been dumped on one of the cars parked at the CPS premises.
The affected vehicles are accident cars involved in road crashes and are kept at the police station pending clearance and collection by their owners. Buzeki questioned the contractor’s representatives over how construction materials were allowed to end up on the vehicles and within an area under police custody.
The contractor’s representatives were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the incident during the inspection. Buzeki directed Dott Services to immediately remove the stones and clear the area to prevent further damage to the vehicles and disruption of police operations.
She also emphasized the need for the contractor to properly manage construction materials and coordinate with institutions affected by the road works. The incident has raised concerns about the contractor’s site-management practices as KCCA continues to monitor the implementation of major road projects across Kampala.
Earlier, Buzeki said that it is the duty of the contractor to take care of the project sites until the projects are completed and handed over back to the KCCA.
